Running is more than just exercise for many of us—it's a time to clear our heads, challenge ourselves, and connect with the outdoors. But recent events in our town have cast a shadow over what should be a joyful and freeing activity. Four attacks on women within a single week serve as a stark and chilling reminder that safety must take precedence over sticking to a running routine.  While it’s natural to feel frustrated that we even need to have this conversation, it’s also vital to prioritize our well-being over anything else. Here are some important considerations and strategies to stay safe while running. 1. Adjust Your Running Habits It’s tempting to stick to your usual routes, times, and routines, but predictability can increase vulnerability. Consider varying your running schedule and routes.  Welcome to Brianna on the Run!

Running is trending right now. The aim of this blog is to motivate and inspire those who would like to start running but don’t know where to start. When I started running, I found a lack of basic tips to get started so I hope to help those wanting to start to get off the sofa and on the road!

First things first, download Nike Run Club, Nike Run Club is a game-changer for runners of all levels. Whether you're just starting out or training for a marathon, NRC tailors its guidance to your fitness level and goals, making it easy to stay on track and build endurance at your own pace.

Coach Bennet is to this day, my main motivation for running. The Nike run club has running programs from couch to 5k to marathon training. NRC is a free service that will connect to your Spotify or Apple Music so you can play your music through the app while Coach Bennet fades in and out through the duration of your run to motivate and inspire.

Secondly, prepare to fail. Running isn't just a straight path, you have highs and lows, and we need to be prepared to roll with the punches, believe me not achieving you set out to do feels like you went 10 rounds with an emotionally manipulative lion. Running is a process That can dishearten those who are too optimistic about their goals. Rome wasn't built in a day neither should your endurance be.

Finally, you need to be proud of yourself for taking on this massive task. Don't undersell yourself on how big of an achievement it is to start running, you need to find pride every time you put on your runners and hit the road. Even if your run didn't go to plan or was a complete disaster, you still got up and made the effort to change something about your everyday life and that deserves a massive pat on the back.
